The Plumber is responsible for executing new works activities of plumbing in theatre. He reports to the Site Supervisor in his section.
Location:
Based in Afghanistan.
Core Responsibilities:
• Responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operation of the water purification equipment and chemical dosing as per the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer
• Installation and up-grade of plumbing
• Major repairs of plumbing
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Works Act
Duties:
The principal duties of the Plumber will be the undertaking of inspection and maintenance of plumbing.
• Chemical dosing of water purification equipment after modification or major works
• Ordering of materials
• Good understanding and working knowledge of codes of practice, British Standard and good working practice
Reporting and Authority:
Scope of Accountability: Small: Accountable for support or sub functions.
Autonomy: Supervised: Supervision received is usually centred on job results or methods used, e.g., problem solving approaches, establishing broad parameters for projects, work organisation, progress reports, etc. There will be general supervision.
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Working Conditions:
Based in theatre. Possible arduous conditions. Working conditions infrequently involve some physical exertion, exposure to the elements or hazards inherent in the job which may include routine travel.

Essential:
The Plumber must be of a Technical status and have 2 years relevant post qualification experience.
Personal Qualities:
• Demonstrate commitment, integrity and reliability.
• Of good health and fitness to suit the demands of the post.
Training:
• Support Technician would have been trained or would be trained in:
• Emergency First Aid
• Management of Health and Safety
• Site computer system
Preferred:
• Previous experience in execution of deployed project locations
